Andy Jacobs has absolutely destroyed Chelsea’s Joao Felix, admitting that he really frustrates him as a player.
Joao Felix, who joined Chelsea in January on a short-term loan until the end of the season, is a supremely individual talent.
The 23-year-old attacker is one of the few in the toothless Chelsea attack that looks like creating something. He often does a piece of skill to get fans off their seat each game, too.
However, two goals in 13 Blues appearances since arriving from Atletico Madrid highlights the obvious weakness in his game.
He put in one of his poorer displays in Wednesday night’s 2-0 defeat against Real Madrid in the Champions League. In fact, Andy Townsend strongly criticised Felix for his latest Chelsea performance.
TalkSPORT pundit and Chelsea fan Jacobs has delivered a passionate rant about Felix:
When discussing Felix, Jacobs told talkSPORT: “He’s hopeless, I can’t stand him, there’s no end product.
“He is useless… Decent skill, but nothing in the way of end product, and zero conviction.”
Felix has started both games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Madrid since Frank Lampard was appointed Chelsea’s caretaker manager, so he’s clearly taking a good look at him. He was a regular starter under Graham Potter as well.
Will he start this afternoon against Brighton, though?
We do think the criticism at Felix is a bit over the top considering he’s been a rare spark in the Blues attack in 2023.
It’s obvious that he lets himself down with end product. Therefore, we urge caution when looking at any kind of deal to sign him permanently this summer.
Marca recently reported that Atletico Madrid will demand around €100million (£88million) to sell Felix.
