After a torrid debut season at Chelsea, Tiemoue Bakayoko is struggling on loan at AC Milan as well. Chelsea would have been hoping that Bakayoko developed and gained confidence while playing in the slower paced Serie A.
However, his new boss, Gennarro Gattuso, has been left unimpressed so far.
After his debut in late August, Gattuso said that the 24-year-old has “defects”, especially in terms of receiving the ball. Since then, he has started only one match along with two substitute appearances.
Gattuso is still not happy with the Frenchman after trying him out in a more advanced role.
“I think it will take a while for Bakayoko to get up to speed as a play maker,” Gattuso told Calciomercato.
“He needs to learn the cross field passing and to double up on marking rather than simply chase the ball”.
Gattuso also explained that the former Monaco man needs to learn Italian faster as it is not helping him to integrate in the dressing room.
Bakayoko, it appears, still has a lot of developing to do if he wants to make the grade at Milan, let alone earning another chance at Chelsea.
