On 26th September 2009, Didier Drogba scored his 100th goal for Chelsea.
It didn’t come in the most glamorous of matches, as Chelsea lost 3-1 to Wigan Athletic.
Chelsea would go on to win the league title and, upon retiring, Drogba finished as Chelsea’s fourth highest goalscorer with 164 goals.
So on the day he scored his 100th goal, let’s have a look at some of the Ivorian’s best goals during his time in East London:
Vs Liverpool, 2006
An iconic goal and one that came against fierce rivals Liverpool.
Drogba’s chest control and immediate swivelled finish from 18 yards proved the difference.
And the win helped extend the gap between the two clubs at the top of the table.
Vs Everton, 2006
Despite the excellence of the previous goal, Drogba scored a better one in the same season.
Coming against another Merseyside opponent, this time the long-range effort was with his right foot.
And his wonder-strike turned out to be the winner as Chelsea ran out 3-2 winners over Everton.
Vs Tottenham, 2012
Showing that he could score on the biggest stages, Drogba helped Chelsea blow past Spurs at Wembley.
He scored the opener in a 5-1 win over Tottenham with a fantastic finish from a tight angle with his supposed ‘weak’ foot.
And he scored again in the final against Liverpool to hand Chelsea the trophy.
Vs Bayern Munich, 2012
Not his best goal in terms of wow-factor but definitely his most important.
His last minute equaliser in the Champions League final handed Chelsea a lifeline and meant they went to penalties against Bayern Munich.
He not only scored the equaliser, but he also scored the winning penalty to see Chelsea over the line.
