While not quite a one man team, Chelsea are extremely reliant on Eden Hazard for goals and creativity in the final third. One man who is shining in both these aspects is Bertrand Traore.
The 23-year-old left Chelsea last year to sign for Lyon for £8.8 million. However, he may yet play a part for Chelsea in the future as the transfer has a buy-back clause to be invoked at Chelsea’s discretion.
Traore only played a handful of senior matches for Chelsea. Yet, if he continues his current form, Chelsea will be forced to consider bringing the Frenchman back to the Bridge.
In his last 13 games in Ligue 1, he has scored 10 goals from the position of winger, while also contributing two assists. To offer a comparison, Willian has only scored 10 goals once in an entire season.
In his most recent match, against Marseille, Traore scored twice and won a penalty. Furthermore, 95% of his dribbling attempts were successful.
Chelsea need goal scorers. Pedro is contributing and Eden Hazard is on course for a personal record number of goals. Goals are not coming from anywhere else at the moment unless Marcos Alonso pops up.
Traore is attracting attention for his prolific start to the season. If he continues, the cheap buy-back clause will begin to look tempting.
