Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan has predicted Kai Havertz will reach the very summit of footballing stardom one day.

Speaking to UMM, Gundogan backed the Chelsea forward to become one of the finest performers on the planet.

Keep on going, Kai

Although only 22-years-old, Havertz is already on the right path to achieving such significant status.

He has played over 200 senior club games for the Blues and Bayer Leverkusen, alongside earning 23 caps for the German national team.

With Die Mannschaft, the young attacker featured at last summer’s European Championship, scoring twice in the group stages.

His CV also reads one Champions League final winning goal and one assist in the UEFA Super Cup finale.

Chelsea supporters are still awaiting the day he fully flourishes into a truly unstoppable force, yet that time is surely only just around the corner.

Havertz is finding his form at a pivotal part of the campaign, with his goals and performances keeping Romelu Lukaku out of the side.

From one German to another

The sky really could be the limit for the German international, depending if he can remain on the right track under Thomas Tuchel or any other manager’s guidance.

“Definitely,” said Gundogan when asked if his compatriot has the chance to become one of the world’s best.

“He’s still so young and already played so many games, whether it’s in Germany or in England.

“He won a lot already, he won the Champions League last season against us so that’s really a big thing.

“It really can get better and better. He’s a great guy, really down to earth. When he’s on the pitch, he’s really relaxed, smooth.

“He doesn’t really show nerves, which can be a really good thing. He still has a way to go, but he has already shown his potential.”

Gundogan knows Havertz better than most, having shared numerous dressing rooms whilst away on national duty.

They have also faced off against one another on a handful of occasions, most noticeably the Champions League final.

Whilst the Man City midfielder is entering the last stretch of his career, Havertz has miles ahead of him to achieve greatness.
