Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher said the players were at fault for Saturday’s 4-1 defeat to Brighton, including himself, who should have scored in the game.
It was an underwhelming performance from the Blues overall at the weekend, but Gallagher’s display was arguably one of the few positives.
The 22-year-old created two chances in the game, including his second-half assist, his first for the season.
The former Chelsea academy player of the year also had two shots on target and admitted he should have done better to convert those opportunities.

“We were always in the game, even at half-time when we were three down,” the England international told Chelsea’s official website.
“It shows we did have chances, and I should have scored in the first half which could have changed the game. It didn’t go that way.
“We had chances, but we need to defend better as a team. We shouldn’t be conceding that many goals, so we’re very disappointed.
“We’re at fault. We need to look at the mistakes, learn from them, dust ourselves off and go again.”
While the poor decision-making in the final third has been a problem for Chelsea in recent weeks, it was far from being their biggest issue in the game.
Brighton created two big chances in the first half alone, and Chelsea could not deal with their intense pressing in the first half.
This is not a one-off case, either, as the west London side had to rely on Kepa Arrizabalaga’s outstanding form in recent weeks to bail them out.
