‘He can’t lose’: Hudson-Odoi names £150k-a-week Chelsea player as most competitive in training

Callum Hudson-Odoi has revealed that Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta is the most competitive in training.

Azpilicueta, who’s been at Stamford Bridge since 2012, is one of the senior figures within the Blues dressing room.

The 32-year-old defender has always been renowned for his professionalism and attitude, so it’s no surprise to hear what he’s like behind the scenes.

“Azpi, every time. Anything he plays in he can’t lose,” Hudson-Odoi responded when asked the most competitive in Chelsea training.

Chelsea skipper has real fight on

Of course, nobody should doubt Azpilicueta because he’s been a brilliant servant during 443 Chelsea appearances so far.

The £150,000-a-week Spaniard is an extremely versatile defender that wears his heart on his sleeve every time he steps on the pitch.

He can play as a wing-back on either flank, along with in any of the centre-back positions.

However, he’s been an unused substitute in the last four consecutive Premier League fixtures.

Thomas Tuchel’s squad at Stamford Bridge is stacked with so much talent, so there are always going to be big names left on the bench each match.

LWB role up for grabs?

For Azpilicueta, he may sense an opportunity to get back in the starting line-up.

Ben Chilwell’s injury, which will keep him out for at least six weeks, means the left wing-back role is vacant.

Marcos Alonso is surely the frontrunner for the position. First of all, he’s a left-footer that is the most natural replacement. Also, he started the season in fantastic form himself and has shown he can perform under Tuchel.

However, versatile ace Azpilicueta did come on the pitch in the midweek win against Juventus as the left wing-back.
