'He's got everything': Tomori blown away by 'strong' 23-year-old Chelsea reportedly want to sign

Fikayo Tomori is blown away by the quality of AC Milan teammate Rafael Leao, who’s a reported target for Chelsea.

Gianluca Di Marzio reported last month that Chelsea could return with a fresh move to sign Leao after their summer attempt was rejected.

The 23-year-old attacker, who’s a key player at the San Siro, has been in blistering form this season. He’s got four goals and seven assists in nine games so far this campaign across all competitions.

Tomori blown away by Leao

AC Milan’s Tomori, who’s a former Chelsea defender, has given a glowing verdict on a player the Blues reportedly want to sign:

“To be fair, in training, you wouldn’t know he’s (Leao) so electric when it comes to a matchday,” Tomori told The Athletic.

“In training, he likes to mess about, he does a lot of stepovers, he beats you once and wants to come back at you again. But when it comes to the game, he’s just off (on one). He’s massive for the team. Ever since I arrived I told him: ‘You don’t know how good you are’. Because you can see he has everything. He’s fast, he’s strong, he can dribble, he can head the ball, he’s tall. He’s got everything. He’s definitely been our difference-maker and is deservedly player of the season for Serie A.”

Keep a close eye tonight

Incidentally, Chelsea play AC Milan twice in the next week during the Champions League group stages, including tonight at Stamford Bridge.

If key player Leao starts, it’s a great chance for the Blues to see how he performs up close and personal.

The Portuguese star is a super talented winger that can torment full-backs with speed, directness and trickery.

However, the likelihood is that he could be in direct competition later with Reece James, who’s growing into one of the top right-backs around.

A Leao-James battle is one that could spark real fireworks tonight.

The AC Milan should be wary after James completely shut out Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha the other day, though.
