‘I feel great’: £58m Chelsea attacker insists he’s been playing so well recently

Christian Pulisic has claimed he feels his form has been good recently at Chelsea leading into the World Cup.

Pulisic, who always has extra pressure on the international stage, will hope to achieve great things with the United States during this winter’s World Cup.

The 24-year-old winger knows there’s a group stage match against England on the horizon, which will involve him facing Premier League stars he faces on a weekly basis.

He’s a real talisman when representing the United States, but that’s not the case at club level.

Chelsea fans know how good the £58million attacker can be when he’s fit and firing. Most supporters would argue he’s fallen off considerably this season, though.

Christian Pulisic form

Despite starting just one of Chelsea’s last four games before the winter break, Pulisic has said in an interview that he’s really happy with his form.

It’s great to hear that he still has confidence in his own ability because he does come under-fire for big criticism at times.

“I feel great right now. My form is actually been really good in recent weeks I feel. So I’ve gotten some games in, [I’m] continuing to work there and improving myself there and honestly, I feel really strong and very good and prepared going into this,” Pulisic said.

In fairness, there’s a strong case to suggest Pulisic should have played more for Graham Potter’s Chelsea side.

He’s looked sharp and direct during his minutes in the past couple of weeks, so you can tell he’s had this World Cup tournament bubbling away in his mind. However, there’s still a clinical edge missing from his game.

His recent performance against Manchester City really epitomised him. There were plenty of positive bursts in possession, but he wasted a gilt-edged chance to score inside the box.

If he can get a run of starts, maybe Pulisic can rediscover his best form. Putting on the United States shirt at this World Cup should ignite the fire in his belly.

Mario Melchiot recently suggested that Pulisic needs to leave Chelsea to go play regularly elsewhere.

If he can shine in Qatar, perhaps there’s room for another opportunity post-World Cup to really cement a spot in the Blues XI.

He has plenty of ability and great attributes, but does he need a clean slate?
