Conor Gallagher has hailed the star quality of Chelsea-owned player Callum Hudson-Odoi, who’s currently out on loan this season with Bayer Leverkusen.

Hudson-Odoi, who turned 22 earlier this month, actually has 126 first-team appearances in Chelsea colours.

The exciting winger has produced some great individual moments for the Blues since breaking into the senior squad from the academy several years ago.

However, he became the latest Englishman to make the move to the German Bundesliga in the summer, joining Bayer Leverkusen on a temporary basis in the hope of more regular minutes.

Conor Gallagher hailed Callum Hudson-Odoi

22-year-old Chelsea midfielder Gallagher, who played alongside Hudson-Odoi in the Blues academy, has singled him out as an “incredible talent”.

“Callum Hudson-Odoi was someone I played with at Chelsea and I grew up with him. He was always an incredible talent,” Gallagher said.

Hopefully, the pair are reunited next season in the same squad at Stamford Bridge.

Hudson-Odoi is getting a decent amount of game time with Leverkusen, especially in the Champions League group stages where he started all six matches.

However, the left-winger, who can also play in a No.10 position, should be a little disappointed with just one goal and one assist in 15 appearances across all competitions this season.

There’s never been much doubt about the ability and potential of Hudson-Odoi, so it’s no surprise Gallagher picked him out as a big talent from the youth days.

He just can’t quite seem to translate that into the senior game, though.

The speedster still has plenty of time on his side to develop, and it will be interesting to find out what new Chelsea boss Graham Potter thinks of him.

Calciomercato reported in October that Hudson-Odoi is one of the players AC Milan may try sign from Chelsea in the future.

However, Potter should get a proper look at him after his Leverkusen loan ends.
