'It's hard': Kalidou Koulibaly shares it's difficult facing 'talented' Chelsea player in training

Kalidou Koulibaly has shared it’s difficult coming up against Chelsea’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in training.

Aubameyang, 33, is the latest in a long line of attackers that are trying to break the striker’s curse at Stamford Bridge.

The centre-forward netted his first goal of the season in the weekend victory against Crystal Palace. Admittedly, Paul Merson did criticise him for his overall performance outside of his superb goal.

He’s been scoring goals for fun at the top level for a long time now, so it must be great for his teammates to learn from him.

Aubameyang in training

Chelsea’s 31-year-old centre-back Koulibaly has given a little insight into his teammate by claiming he’s tough to face on the training pitches. He’s given a glowing assessment on Aubameyang’s quality, too.

Koulibaly said, as quoted by Football London: “Everybody knows about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. We know that he is an important player for us. He used to score a lot in Premier League and he did it last year in Barcelona. We are happy to be with him today and we know he can give us a lot because he can score a lot of goals.”

He added: “It’s hard to take him in training because you know he is talented. But in training, everybody is difficult to take because we have a lot of talent in this team.”

The standard must be exceptionally high on the training ground when you look at the amount of talent in the squad.

Graham Potter’s got enough depth to name two very strong starting line-ups, something that is going to be very handy during a hectic fixture schedule this month.

Both Koulibaly and Aubameyang are two new signings still trying to find their way at Chelsea this season, but they must have raised the overall bar with their experience and quality.

There was a clear focus in the summer to think about the future by signing some exciting youngster, which is why Potter’s arrival makes perfect sense. However, people are quick to forget they signed proven quality individuals with the likes of Koulibaly and Aubameyang as well.
