"Just amazing": Conor Gallagher hails duo sold by Chelsea last year

'Just amazing': Conor Gallagher raves about the quality of two players who Chelsea sold last year

Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher has praised ex-Blues duo Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham for their performances this season in Italy.

Both Tomori and Abraham, who came through Chelsea’s academy system, were sold last year by Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Tomori, 24, signed permanently for Italian giants AC Milan after a loan at the San Siro. The centre-back has gone on and helped his side win the Serie A league title this season, providing such a reliable figure in the heart of defence.

Meanwhile, 24-year-old striker Abraham made the move to Jose Mourinho’s Roma. He’s also got his hands on silverware this term by helping to win the UEFA Europa Conference League.

There are plenty of Chelsea fans that are angry about the duo’s exit from Stamford Bridge last summer, but they’ve gone to nail down a permanent starting position elsewhere.

Gallagher praised Tomori and Abraham

Gallagher has raved about the two Serie A stars, who he’s alongside in Gareth Southgate’s latest England squad.

They are three of the individuals in the England camp with some kind of Chelsea connection, along with Mason Mount, Reece James, Marc Guehi and Declan Rice.

“I’ve congratulated them both (Tomori and Abraham). It’s amazing the season they both had in Italy. I’m sure it’s an amazing experience for them and to both win trophies is great. They’re here [in the England squad] because they deserve to be and just amazing,” Gallagher told talkSPORT.

Gallagher the next Chelsea star?

Hopefully, Gallagher doesn’t go down the path of being a Chelsea talent that ends up being sold.

The 22-year-old box-to-box midfielder has been unbelievable during his season-long loan with Crystal Palace, which is why the Blues fanbase can’t wait to see him back.

It’s been reported he’ll get his chance from Tuchel during the upcoming pre-season to break into the senior squad.
