Kieran Trippier says ‘brilliant’ £50m Chelsea man is one of the best player he’s ever played with

Kieran Trippier has named Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling as one of the best players he’s ever played with.

Newcastle and England full-back Trippier, 32, has been Sterling’s teammate for several years on the international stage. The pair have never lined up together at club level, though.

Trippier has named quite an eye-catching list when discussing his best ever teammates. For example, Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Manchester City’s John Stones and Atletico Madrid’s Koke.

In addition, Chelsea’s £50million man has received a lot of praise.

Raheem Sterling appreciation

Trippier, who’s had some incredible teammates during his career to date, puts Sterling alongside some of the very best he’s played with.

When asked the best players he’s played with, Trippier told Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE: “Harry Kane is incredible. I’m a big fan of Stonesy (John Stones), he’s top. Koke at Atletico Madrid. Great leader, great on the ball, top pro. Raheem Sterling as well, I’ve played against him and he’s brilliant.”

Trippier later added on Sterling: “His sharpness. He’s given me a torrid time a couple of times, especially in the Champions League. With and without the ball he’s so smart, so intelligent. The numbers he racked up when he was at City I don’t think it’s spoken about.”

It’s perhaps a timely reminder to some just how good Sterling can be.

Yes, the 28-year-old attacker is yet to hit top form during his debut season in Chelsea colours. There’s very few individuals in the Blues squad that could claim to be at their best so far this year, though.

Let’s hope that the extra competition in the forward positions at Stamford Bridge can be the catalyst for Sterling to kick on during the second half of the season.

Graham Potter’s side are crying out for someone to score goals consistently in the Premier League, something that the former Manchester City star has shown he can do.

Journalist Simon Phillips recently told GiveMeSport that Sterling has been “unhappy” in his own performances recently.
