Mason Mount insisted that Manchester United could surprise them on Sunday with their individual qualities despite their recent poor form.

Many, including Shaun Wright-Phillips, consider Chelsea to be clear favourites ahead of the clash at Stamford Bridge.

It is hardly a surprise, though, given the form Chelsea have been in.

Chelsea legend Petr Cech, however, recently highlighted the new manager bounce effect that could cause problems from Thomas Tuchel’s men.

Mount seems to agree with Cech, saying Chelsea were in a similar situation when Tuchel first took over.

“We have recently gone through that period and changed managers,” the England international told Sky Sports.

“It can go one way where all the players want to prove something, they are at the top of their game and you have to be ready for that and we will be.

“But it is a tough one to read and go into because you do not know what they are going to come with.

You saw the last game where they played really well at Villarreal and win 2-0.

“So we have to be prepared for anything and a very tough game, it is United, they have got top-class players, individually they can produce anything on the day.

“So you have to be ready for that.”

As Mount pointed out, despite possibly being without more than three key players for the game, Manchester United still have plenty of threats up front.

Bruno Fernandes has created more chances (38) than any other player in the league this season, while the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford are proven goalscorers.

Although, Tuchel will also have several in-form players at his disposal, including Reece James and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
