Pulisic admits he had never seen what Chelsea teammate did vs Liverpool
Christian Pulisic was full of praise for Chelsea teammate Mateo Kovacic for his “very special” goal but admitted he had never seen the midfielder score a goal like that before.
For the Blues, Kovacic’s brilliant goal was crucial. They were two goals down at that point and a moment of brilliance from the Croatia international practically inspired the team to secure the point at home.
The goal was far from being Kovacic’s only contribution in the game, obviously.
Alongside N’Golo Kante, the two controlled helped Chelsea win the midfield battle.
“We have so many good players — it was a fantastic match,” the American told Chelsea TV after the game.
“Kova’s goal… there was so much fun stuff going on. It was a buzzer to be out there today, honestly.
Speaking about Kovacic’s goal, he added: “Very special. When it hit the post, I was just thinking ‘Just go in, come on.’
“For Kova, that was amazing. I’ve never seen him score a goal like that, so it was fun to watch.”
Well, Kovacic is not known for his goalscoring ability, and it was his only fourth Premier League goal since joining the Blues in 2018.
However, the former Real Madrid star has certainly seen a significant improvement in terms of goal contributions.
He has had five assists in the league so far, joint-most at Chelsea, despite his lengthy absence.
