Reece James sends clear message to referee Anthony Taylor after Tottenham draw

Blues defender Reece James has commented on controversial refereeing decisions in Saturday’s 2-2 draw between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge.

Harry Kane’s late equaliser secured a point for the visitors in the eventful London derby.

The confrontations between the two managers; Thomas Tuchel and Antonion Conte, stole the spotlight, but it all stemmed from several controversial refereeing decisions in the game.

Like Tuchel, who questioned the legitimacy of Spurs’ two goals, James was also not impressed by the officials’ decisions.

“I think we should have won the game,” the England international told BBC MOTD2 about the draw result.

“There were two arguable goals for them. I think the referees and the fourth official need to look back on them.

“It’s frustrating for us when you deserve to win the game.

“I don’t know what they were looking at, but we have to take the positives from the game.

“We were all over them throughout the game.”

James was arguably the best performer on the pitch for Chelsea, having played in several roles throughout the game.

He started the match in the right centre-back role and managed to shut down one of Spurs’ biggest threat, Heung-min Son, before moving to his usual right-back role and scored what could have been a winning goal.

James finished the game with three tackles, one big chance created, and seven duels won.
