A section of Chelsea supporters on social media ordered Thomas Tuchel to use Tammy Abraham against Fulham in the Premier League this weekend.
Abraham has cut a forgotten and forlorn figure around the Blues camp recently, having repeatedly been overlooked by his manager.
Chelsea fans couldn’t stand their young striker being ignored anymore and issued he be recalled to face Fulham on Saturday.
Here’s their response on Twitter:
20th of February. The last time Abraham started a match for Chelsea, in a 1-1 draw with Southampton.
His only other appearance since then was in last weekend’s win over West Ham United, but even that only lasted three minutes.
If reports are to be believed, the 23-year-old’s days at Stamford Bridge could be numbered.
The Telegraph claimed that Chelsea is willing to offload the forward this summer, in an attempt to land either Erling Haaland or Romelu Lukaku.
This would not only free up space in the side but also on the wage bill, with Abraham currently earning just over £80,000-a-week (Eurosport).
Tuchel’s constant disregarded for including the England international in his matchday squad, let alone the starting XI, does hint towards such a deal.
If this is be a final farewell to the Blues academy product, then the least he deserves is a few more chances in the spotlight.
A London derby at home to Fulham would be the perfect curtain closer.
With one eye firmly on the second-leg of Chelsea’s Champions League tie with Real Madrid, Tuchel will likely look to rest and reshuffle some of his pack.
It does beg the question: if Abraham isn’t going to start on Saturday, when else will he?
