Thomas Tuchel gave special praise to Chelsea defender Thiago Silva after his weekend performance in the victory against Tottenham.
The Blues maintained an unbeaten start to the season by comprehensively winning 3-0 away to Spurs on Sunday afternoon.
Silva, N’Golo Kante and Antonio Rudiger all got themselves on the scoresheet during a second half where the visitors ran riot.
Silva, 36, showed his class and experience against Spurs.
The Brazilian centre-back got his first goal of the season with a superb header, plus he had a second attempt saved by goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
In addition, the way he defended so calmly and authoritatively against the Spurs attackers was top quality.
Blues manager Tuchel raved about Silva after his display:
“He almost scored twice. He’s so strong. The delivery was good for his goal. We are very happy that he was able to score and open the game for us. His performance, even in the first half, was outstanding. Fantastic performance,” Tuchel said.

Thiago Silva is like a fine wine
Silva isn’t going to play every single game this season, but you just know he will deliver whenever called upon by his manager. It’s amazing to see the way he’s taken to English football.
Of course, an amazing career will eventually start to wind down for the defender given he turns 37 next week. However, there is still something left in the tank.
The South American is a massive leader within the dressing room at Stamford Bridge and it must be brilliant for younger players to have him as a role model they can work alongside every day.
Also, he slots into the heart of the back-three effortlessly, so it’s great for Tuchel to have the defensive options to rotate.
Silva, Rüdiger, Andreas Christensen, Cesar Azpilicueta and youngster Trevoh Chalobah are a solid unit to pick from.
