'A great player': Jamie Carragher hails 19-year-old star Chelsea reportedly want to sign

Jamie Carragher has claimed he would love Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham at Anfield, amid reported interest from the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool.

Bellingham, who turned 19 in June, is one of the most exciting young players in the sport.

The box-to-box midfielder is already a senior England international that many are hoping plays a key role in this year’s winter World Cup.

Despite coming through at Birmingham City as a youngster, he’s made his name in first-team football during the last couple of years overseas. He’s a huge favourite for German giants Borussia Dortmund, scoring 13 goals and making 18 assists in 100 appearances.

Carragher rates Jude Bellingham

It’s no surprise to hear pundit Carragher would love to see the Dortmund star join his former club Liverpool.

“I’ve seen the links [to Liverpool], I just hope they’re true…He is a great player,” Carragher told talkSPORT.

Merseyside giants Liverpool, along with several other top clubs, are reportedly keen on signing Bellingham ahead of next summer.

The Athletic claims Chelsea, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Manchester United are admirers of the 19-year-old. He could cost as much as €150million (£131million) to sign, though.

Bellingham’s consistently delivering top-class performances on the Bundesliga and Champions League stage, plus he’s now making his way into the England line-up.

Chelsea’s new boss Graham Potter is reportedly a fan of the midfield colossus, so it’ll be interesting to see how hard the Blues are willing to push to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

It feels like it’s going to be a really significant deal for whichever side eventually wins the race for his signature.

Dortmund’s model has been built around selling one prized asset per summer, with Erling Haaland the latest superstar moved on recently.

The way Bellingham performances from now until next summer should have a massive bearing on his valuation, especially if he can play a big role at the World Cup.
