'Absolutely incredible': Gary Neville totally amazed by Chelsea star's display vs Liverpool
Gary Neville was full of praise for Chelsea star Mateo Kovacic after his individual effort in the game against Liverpool on Sunday.
Kovacic, 27, was immense for the Blues at the weekend in the draw against Liverpool.
Unfortunately, Thomas Tuchel’s side did drop two more points because of the 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge today.
However, Chelsea showed massive spirit to come from 2-0 down to earn a point. Mateo Kovacic and Christian Pulisic were both on the scoresheet to cancel out goals from Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
In addition, Tuchel’s men played some of the very best football on the eye that they’ve played all season.
RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.
Pundit Neville was waxing lyrical about Kovacic’s contribution against Liverpool:
“It’s going to go to Kovacic,” Neville responded when asked for his man of the match on Sky Sports’ Main Event channnel (6:24pm, 2nd January).
“Been absolutely incredible today. His goal was fantastic, but not just that, everything else he’s done.”
Dominant Chelsea midfield
Kovacic was definitely a deserving winner of Sky’s man of the match award at home to Liverpool.
Kovacic, alongside midfield partner N’Golo Kante, bossed proceedings against an opposition stacked with so much talent.
The Croatian central midfielder scored an outrageous volley that’ll take some beating for the club’s goal of the season award. However, his all-round game was equally as impressive.
He was so involved in the opposition half with his immaculate first touch and forward thinking, plus out of possession he worked tirelessly defensively.
It makes such a difference to how the Blues line-up when they’ve got senior players such as Kovacic, Kante and Jorginho on the pitch.
