Alan Shearer believes West Ham were very unfortunate to have a goal chalked off by VAR in the game against Chelsea on Saturday afternoon.
Chelsea showed tremendous heart to come from behind to eventually beat rivals West Ham 2-1 at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League today.
Michail Antonio opened the scoring just past the hour mark for the visitors, but an inspired decision from Blues manager Thomas Tuchel turned the game on its head.
Chelsea substitute Ben Chilwell tapped in an equaliser before another substitute in Kai Havertz scored an 88th minute winner.
However, some VAR controversy clouded the closing stages of the league contest.

West Ham’s VAR goal
West Ham thought they had scored a last-minute equaliser through Maxwel Cornet.
Referee Andy Madley decided to overturn his original decision when he asked to watch the incident on the pitch-side monitor, though.
Hammers attacker Jarrod Bowen was judged to have fouled Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy in the build up to the strike.
In fairness, the Hammers are right to feel aggrieved post-match as there’s not much Bowen could’ve done to avoid minimal contact with the goalkeeper.
Chelsea know all about VAR controversy if you look back to some recent matches, including the Tottenham draw.

Shearer verdict
Pundit Shearer said on Twitter it was an “awful decision” to rule out the Cornet goal in the London derby at Stamford Bridge.
Many feel that it evens itself out by the end of the season when it comes to refereeing decisions, but it’s tough to swallow when it goes against you on the day.
Gigantic three points
The pressure would’ve reached new heights had Chelsea suffered defeat today.
Thankfully, Havertz proved his quality with a goal off the bench at a time when a lot of supporters have grown frustrated with his lack of attacking output.
Let’s hope this is the start of a decent run for him and his side.
