‘Better than people think’: Micah Richards highlights the two signings that will help Chelsea finish above Spurs
Micah Richards has claimed on JOE’s official YouTube channel that the signings of Kalidou Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling will help Chelsea finish third this season.
The pair were the first two signings in the Todd Boehly era at Chelsea, both featuring on the club’s tour of the United States in pre-season.
They also made their first team debuts in the league in the weekend’s victory over Everton, with them both impressing despite the cagey affair.
Richards believes the impact of the duo will maintain Chelsea’s place in the top three this season, above London rivals Spurs despite their own impressive window.
He said: “Koulibaly and Sterling are still top signings and they’re not finished yet. Add Havertz. Add Mount. Add Chilwell. Add James. Thiago Silva, yeah he’s not getting no younger but he can marshal the back line. Bring in a couple more, you’ve got Mendy at the back as well.

“I think Chelsea are gonna be better than people think. I think they’re gonna finish third. Above Spurs.”
The Blues have come into criticism during this window after missing out on a number of targets, with fellow pundit Gary Neville accusing Todd Boehly of playing Football Manager with his decisions.
However, under the surface the American has been doing what he can to help Chelsea succeed in this window, both in the current day and for future years.
He has continued the spending this summer with the purchase of Marc Cucurella from Brighton, while he has also been keen to bolster the backline with the signing of Wesley Fofana from Leicester.
This has gone alongside the club securing deals for the future, with the signings of Carney Chukwuemeka and Gabriel Slonina more likely to make their impacts in the coming years as opposed to right now.
