Pundit Tim Sherwood has claimed on ‘The Kelly and Wrighty show’ that Chelsea are really not getting the best out of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The 33-year-old has begun a goal drought after threatening to show he still has the ability to make an impact in the best league in the world.

However, his best football so far with the Blues has been seen in the Champions League. He found the net in back-to-back games against AC Milan when the pressure was on Chelsea to qualify.

Getting a striker to perform at Stamford Bridge has been a problem for a number of years now.

There have been many options who have achieved great success at other teams before failing to set the world alight in West London.

A notable example of this has been seen with Romelu Lukaku, who is currently on loan with Inter Milan.

Sherwood criticises Chelsea for Aubameyang

Sherwood has claimed that the mistake of not getting the best out of Aubameyang is not new at Chelsea, although what he has shown in the league before suggests Graham Potter could be doing more to get the best out of him.

He said: “You can’t argue they haven’t got the strike force. Chelsea are making two prolific goalscorers in the Premier League in Aubameyang and Lukaku look terrible.

They need to look at themselves, I know it’s two different mangers, it’s not all Potter’s fault it’s Tuchel as well.

“But that control of the game is quite boring. I like control of the game and playing progressively forward, but they are not passing it forward quickly enough.”

It can of course be noted that the Chelsea manager was not the man responsible for signing Aubameyang, with that being far more of a Thomas Tuchel signing.

However, until a suitable replacement is found Potter will certainly need to work hard on how to get his number nine involved.
