Rio Ferdinand applauded Chelsea’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for his individual display yesterday at the San Siro.

Graham Potter stretched his unbeaten run as Chelsea boss last night to five games, securing an impressive 2-0 victory away to AC Milan.

The Blues are now in charge of their Champions League group after two consecutive wins against the Italian champions, finishing with a 5-0 aggregate scoreline over the two matches.

Next, the London club visit Aston Villa in the Premier League, and should travel with major confidence within the group.

Ferdinand applauded Aubameyang

BT Sport pundit Ferdinand believes that Chelsea’s new No.9 was brilliant in the contest against Milan.

The 33-year-old striker got on the scoresheet again to make it three goals in five appearances this season. His strike last night was a clinical low finish from inside the box.

“I thought [Aubameyang] was class all night,” Ferdinand told BT Sport 2 (10:12pm, 11 October).

When describing his goal, he added: “Watch when the ball goes beyond Aubameyang, look at the anticipation… finishes it off, beautiful.”

Signs are extremely positive

Chelsea fans should be reluctant to get too excited on a centre-forward given the club’s recent history, but Aubameyang is allowing them to dream of finally having a clinical striker.

He fits the category perfectly as a proper striker that can come alive in the penalty area.

The experienced attacker knows how to sense goalscoring opportunities, something this side has missed at times recently.

Matt Upson claimed last week that Aubameyang looked like a player who was loving life at Stamford Bridge. As of right now, this definitely looks to be true.

A strong start to his Chelsea career has helped silence any early doubters, so now it’s exciting to see how many he can score in this Potter XI moving forward.
