Chris Sutton has picked out Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku when asked for his biggest disappointment of the Premier League season so far.
Chelsea are 24 games into their league campaign and don’t play again in the top flight until 19 February away to Crystal Palace.
Thomas Tuchel’s side are sat third in the league table, but a dip in form during recent weeks has taken some of the gloss off around Stamford Bridge.
Lukaku, who arrived as the high-profile signing in the summer from Inter Milan, is still trying to find his best form for the Blues. The left-footed striker has eight goals in all competitions so far this season, including five in the Premier League.
Pundit Sutton has been left really underwhelmed by the impact the Belgian centre-forward has made at the Bridge, though.
“I thought he’d (Lukaku) be the difference and that Chelsea would be this season’s title front-runners thanks to his goals but that hasn’t happened. He has only scored twice in the Premier League since September and instead brought heat on his manager Thomas Tuchel after that unsolicited interview. So he’s my disappointment of the season,” Sutton said.

Chelsea need Lukaku firing after mini break
Chelsea don’t play again until 5 February in the FA Cup against Plymouth Argyle, so there is an opportunity for the squad to get some rest.
Afterwards, the Blues need Lukaku back in some goalscoring form to spearhead the hunt for trophies in the second half of the season. There is already a Carabao Cup final against Liverpool on the horizon to get excited about.
His recent goal drought has seen plenty criticise him, with talkSPORT’s Gabby Agbonlahor even claiming recently that he looks slower now compared to the start of campaign.
However, he needs the ball to his the back of the net a couple of times to restore confidence.
He’s been a goalscorer throughout his entire career, so it should be just a matter of time until he delivers at the top end of the pitch.
