‘Exciting’: Hasselbaink says Chelsea will be a much better team when 21-year-old is in the starting XI

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says Chelsea will be loads better once Moises Caicedo enters the starting XI.

Moises Caicedo, who joined the Blues from Brighton last week, had a debut to forget during Sunday’s 3-1 Premier League defeat against West Ham.

The 21-year-old midfielder conceded a penalty and looked sloppy during his 30-minute cameo in the second half of the weekend’s loss.

However, regular Premier League watchers will know it was very much a one-off and he’s been outstanding in Brighton colours in this division.

Hasselbaink massively rates Chelsea signing Caicedo and believe he will elevate the team.

“Caicedo is an exciting player and forget about all the financial numbers. Will he make Chelsea better? I really think he will,” Hasselbaink told LiveScore.

“Caicedo has that steel. Technically, he’s very good and he can pass the ball well.”

We fully expect Caicedo to come into the Chelsea line-up this Friday against Luton Town and show why the club splashed the cash for him.

We’re happy to give him the benefit of the doubt for a dodgy club debut. The media, along with the fanbase, are likely to be on his case if the same happens again, though.

If his Brighton spell is anything to go by, Caicedo will bring tremendous energy and quality to Chelsea in the centre of the park.

The Ecuador international is so effective with his work both on and off the ball.

It feels like Mauricio Pochettino is still working out his best XI as he gets used to his role as the head coach. Our suggestion to him is to nail down the spine of his team, which should include Enzo Fernandez and Caicedo.
