Frank Leboeuf thinks the arrival of Frank Lampard at Chelsea can be a good thing for Mykhailo Mudryk.

Frank Lampard, who’s now Chelsea’s caretaker manager, is tasked with trying to lift the current squad.

The club legend is in place until the end of the season and begins his second spell as manager with a trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers this afternoon.

A really poor domestic season means the Premier League campaign is in a sorry state, but the team could do with some momentum ahead of the Champions League quarter-finals against Real Madrid.

Leboeuf has picked out Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk as an individual who could benefit from Lampard’s arrival.

The 22-year-old attacker has had a quiet start to his Blues career since joining from Shakhtar Donetsk in January, which is why people have been quick to jump on his £89million (BBC) price tag.

However, he was finding it hard to get on the pitch under Graham Potter.

Writing in Simon Phillips’ Substack, Leboeuf said: “Mykhailo Mudryk I spoke about in my last column and he just needs time to settle down, I’m pretty sure he is going to do well under Frank.”

Mudryk has started two of the last four Chelsea matches in the Premier League, but it feels like he’s still getting to grips with football in a new country.

The left-winger has explosive pace and athleticism, with Raheem Sterling admitting he was surprised by just how quick Mudryk actually is.

Lampard knows a big chunk of the Blues squad from his previous time coaching the club. However, Mudryk is a new face at his disposal.

If Lampard does revert to a 4-3-3 system, Mudryk could be a really interesting option for him.

The Ukraine international could be a secret weapon up Chelsea’s sleeve going into the Madrid showdown, but he’ll need an opportunity against Wolves first.
