Frank Leboeuf says Chelsea would have lost to Brentford if not for 28-year-old

Frank Leboeuf said Chelsea would have lost their match against Brentford if it was not for Kepa Arrizabalaga‘s brilliant performance on Wednesday.

After the final whistle, Brentford players, who had to dig deep in the final minutes, appeared to be the ones who were happier with the draw.

However, they arguably had the better goalscoring chances to win the game over 90 minutes.

Leboeuf argued that the fact Arrizabalaga was once again the best performer for Chelsea was hardly a good sign.

“The man of the match for Chelsea is a goalkeeper for the second game in a row,” the former France international told ESPN FC.

“It was a game between [Ivan] Toney and Kepa. Kepa made three saves against Toney.

“I didn’t see Chelsea I want to see.

“I want to see a more adventurous team who do not calculate every pass they make.

“The only [big] chance they had was in the last minutes of the game through [Carney] Chukwuemeka. That’s it. That’s the only clear-cut chance they had all game long.

“If they didn’t have Kepa, [they] would have lost that game.”

It is hard to argue that Arrizabalaga, who made five saves in the game, including four from inside the box, played the biggest part in Chelsea’s keeping their fifth consecutive clean sheet.

While the Spain international’s outstanding form only benefits the team, the number of saves he had to make in recent games means Chelsea have been conceding shots on target.
