Glenn Hoddle said Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount looked to have regained his “mojo” back following a man-of-the-match performance in Saturday’s 3-0 win over Wolves.

The 23-year-old had to deal with an outburst of criticism this season for his lack of output.

Having racked up 11 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League last season, he failed to register any direct contribution in his first seven appearances in the competition this term.

To be fair, he is far from being the only Chelsea attacker struggling at the start of the campaign.

Hoddle believes Graham Potter’s arrival has had a lot to do with Mount’s resurgence.

“Today he was excellent,” the former Blues manager told Premier League Productions (via Optus Sport) when speaking about Mount.

“He looked as if he’s had his mojo back again and that confidence. I think Graham had a real influence on that; had a one-to-one chat with him which looks like it has given him that confidence.

“He [Mount] is always going to give you everything. He’s back defending at times, and he’s got that little bit of everything.

“Today he was effective with the ball again.”

Chelsea’s more direct approach under Potter seems to suit many Chelsea attackers, including Mount.

The England international also tends to operate more centrally and closer to his natural position under the new manager.
