Graeme Souness has claimed he would love to see Frank Lampard become Chelsea’s next permanent manager.
Following the sacking of Graham Potter, Chelsea have appointed club legend Frank Lampard as the caretaker boss until the end of the season.
Lampard, who was sacked by the Blues a couple of years ago under the previous ownership, is back at Stamford Bridge on a temporary basis.
The 44-year-old manager begins his second stint in charge today with a trip to Wolverhampton Wanders. There is little to play for in the Premier League fixture at Wolves, but it’s the last preparation before next week’s Champions League tie against Real Madrid.

Pundit Graeme Souness has been discussing Lampard’s return to Chelsea.
He’s delighted to see the Englishman back in West London, adding that it would be great for him to stay beyond the summer and become the permanent manager.
“Foreign managers are always in fashion. The latest is Julian Nagelsmann. But it’s more than possible that Frank will improve results at the club and if that happens, he would certainly deserve the chance to manage there permanently,” Souness wrote for the Daily Mail.
“Personally, I would love to see that and it would also be very good to see a British manager in one of our top jobs.”

First of all, Lampard’s return is on an interim basis. That’s what the club has told everyone at least.
The rumours continue to circle about appointing Graham Potter’s permanent successor, but can Lampard shove his way into the conversation in the final couple of months of the season?
We’ve heard plenty of links to Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann, who are two high-profile managers with a lot of success behind them.
Lampard’s managerial career so far is still fairly raw and it lacks success, but you can sure the Chelsea fanbase will get behind him in the remaining games of the season.
If the Blues pull off a mighty upset and win the Champions League, let’s see what happens. We’ve learned it’s best not to guess the future with our chaotic club.
