Joe Cole wants Christian Pulisic to build up a consistent run of fixtures in the Chelsea team from this point onwards.
Speaking to football.london, Cole revealed his desire to see more of the American international in competitive action.
Pulisic has once again been starved of meaningful minutes this season.
He has started just four times in the Premier League and Champions League under both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter.
This is an all too familiar story for the 24-year-old, who started just 21 matches throughout the entirety of the previous campaign.
Injuries can be partly blamed for his minimal game time, yet this excuse is simply not acceptable this time around.
Potter seemingly views the £58m forward as an impact player, rather than a starter in his star-studded Chelsea side.
This must be nothing but frustrating for Pulisic, who hasn’t really been able to catch a break since moving to Stamford Bridge in 2019.
Cole is a big fan of Christian
“I think Christian is first of all a superb talent. That’s not in question,” said Cole on then forward’s standing in South West London.
“He also carries the burden of being a superstar in his country of a new generation. He has to show a lot of maturity, which I think he does.
“The only problem with Christian is he’s been unlucky with injuries. Every time he seems to get himself moving and get going, he seems to have a little something. That’s very difficult for a young man to deal with but I have no problem with him as a player.”
“He’s been a fantastic servant for Chelsea. He’s a scorer of important goals. He’s a goalscorer, he plays off the shoulder, he can dribble,” continued the former Blue.
“He’s a wonderful player. For his sake, I would like for him to have a little bit more luck with the injuries and have a run in the team.
“And by a run in the team, he doesn’t have to start every game. He falls into that category where he’s got that ability to change a game.”
Pulisic has got the power
There is enough evidence to prove Pulisic really can be a major piece for Chelsea if used correctly.
He scored and starred in the 3-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers last month on what was only his second league start of the term.
The attacker has also proved pivotal in Europe over the past few campaigns.
His goals in both legs of the Champions League round of 16 victory over Lille in February projected Chelsea into the final eight.
And who can forget his goal and assist across the two semi-final meetings with Real Madrid in 2020/21?
Take notice Potter, Pulisic can seriously play.
