'He has to': Ian Wright urges PL manager to go and sign 22-year-old from Chelsea permanently

Ian Wright advised Patrick Vieira to make Conor Gallagher a permanent Crystal Palace player from Chelsea.

Speaking on his own podcast, Wright said it would a great shame if Vieira lost Gallagher at the end of the season once his loan deal expires.

Conor the coolest customer

He continues to impress not only the Selhurst Park faithful, but from those all across the Premier League.

On Monday night, the 22-year-old battled valiantly against Manchester City, covering a staggering 12.5km in the process.

His relentless energy and effort helped Palace secure a 0-0 draw, whilst simultaneously denting City’s title hopes.

It also provided the chasing pack with added optimism towards pinching the league off Pep Guardiola.

If Chelsea somehow turn around the 11-point deficit, they might gratefully look back on Gallagher’s performance in the middle of March.

Is the grasser greener for Gallagher?

However, due to the sanctions imposed upon Roman Abramovich by the UK government, Chelsea’s transfer plans have seriously been scuppered.

They cannot make any new signings, yet whether this also covers those out on loan is yet to be confirmed.

Palace might want to make the most of this precarious situation by snapping up Gallagher on a full-time basis, something Wright would seriously support.

“Hopefully they’ll stay together – Wilfried Zaha, all of them stay together,” said the former Arsenal striker.

“He (Vieira) has to try and sign Conor Gallagher, he has to try and do something about that situation, because if he bolts a couple more things on to Palace and they get ruthless, they are going to cause havoc in this league.”

Under Vieira, Palace have already proved to be a real threat to teams across the division.

But they will lose some of that impetus if Gallagher heads back across London to Chelsea.

Time for a tug of war over Conor’s allegiance.
