‘I don’t know why’: BBC pundit suggests £30m Chelsea star needs to shoot more often

BBC pundit Garth Crooks has suggested that Chelsea star N’Golo Kante needs to shoot more.

Kante, 30, scored a stunning goal at the weekend in Chelsea’s victory away at Leicester City.

The Blues recorded an emphatic 3-0 away win to ensure they remain three points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Kante scored the pick of the goals against his ex-club at the King Power Stadium. The £30million midfielder unleashed an unstoppable finish from the edge of the box with his weaker left foot, which was his second goal of the league season.

Surprisingly, he’s only netted 13 goals in 229 Chelsea appearances.

Crooks reckons that Kante should be a much more regular goalscorer given his ability.

“He’s very capable of this so I don’t know why he doesn’t do it more often. N’Golo Kante’s 28th-minute strike with his left foot was as clean as it was brilliant. Kante is back to his best but looking more comfortable on the ball than I’ve ever seen him,” Crooks wrote.

Chelsea engine can do everything

Kante has the capacity to do everything from the midfield position.

The central midfielder’s hard work out of possession, with tackles and interceptions, is what first put his name on the map as one of the world’s elite players.

However, regular Chelsea watchers know he’s much more than just a ball-winner.

He’s excellent at driving forward with the ball at his feet, something he did in the build up to his goal against Leicester.

Crooks is spot on that it would be good to see the Frenchman back himself more in front of goal, too.

Blues manager Thomas Tuchel called Kante “outstanding” after his weekend contribution. In addition, Watford’s Moussa Sissoko recently described him as his toughest ever Premier League opponent.
