Jamie Redknapp destroyed Wesley Fofana after the Chelsea defender’s performance tonight against Manchester United.
Chelsea’s miserable campaign was perfectly summed up by this evening’s 4-1 away defeat in the Premier League at Old Trafford.
The Blues were extremely wasteful with so many chances in front of goal, albeit Joao Felix scored a late consolation when the game was over as a contest.
As for the Chelsea backline, they were all over the place and ripped through by United on the counter.
Frank Lampard has just one game left as caretaker manager before the 2022/23 season finishes. It’s going to take something special to avoid defeat in Sunday’s final day match at home to Newcastle United.

Wesley Fofana certainly had an evening to forget in Manchester. In particular, the 22-year-old centre-back fell apart during the second half with glaring mistakes that led to United’s third and fourth goals.
The French defender conceded a penalty for a tired foul on Bruno Fernandes, who scored the resulting spot-kick. In addition, he was guilty of gifting away possession in his own box for Marcus Rashford’s late strike.
He’s shown real signs of promise and his potential during his first year as a Chelsea player. Unfortunately, his form has disappeared in recent appearances and he’s looking very shaky.

Sky Sports pundit Redknapp delivered a fairly harsh assessment of Fofana tonight:
“It was a horror 45 minutes for Wesley Fofana. It really was. He needs to have a real look at himself personally,” Redknapp told Sky Sports’ Premier League channel (10:25pm, 25 May).
We’ve had Fofana pinned down as someone that incoming Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino can build the XI around next season.
However, the young centre-half still has plenty of mistakes to be ironed out of his game before he lives up to his £70million price tag.
