Jason Cundy ripped into Chelsea following Saturday afternoon’s defeat against Brighton.

Chelsea’s miserable season continued at the weekend, this time losing 2-1 at home to Brighton in the Premier League.

The Blues took the lead early on through Conor Gallagher’s deflected goal, which ended the side’s run of four games across all competitions without scoring.

However, a dominant Brighton side equalised before half-time with Danny Welbeck’s header.

The visitors continued to dictate possession and carve out more opportunities, so it’s no real surprise they found the back of the net again in the second period. Julio Enciso was the match-winner with his thunderous strike from outside the box.

It means Frank Lampard has lost all three games since returning as caretaker manager until the end of the season.

Cundy delivered a scathing verdict on Chelsea immediately after the Brighton loss.

“I’m amazed he (Lampard) started with a [back] four. I didn’t see the point going to a four in all honesty,” Cundy said, as quoted by the club’s official YouTube channel.

He later added: “We were all over the place for large parts of that game. There were parts Brighton were passing us to death. Embarrassing at times.

It was yet another reminder of how bad Chelsea have been this season.

We always want to look on the positive side of things, but it’s hard to spin today’s result in any other way than poor.

A few players were rested as Lampard resulted to a back four formation, but his quadruple substitution in the second-half highlighted things just weren’t working all over the pitch.
