Jody Morris reacts to Reece James’ fresh injury after Chelsea return

Former Blue Jody Morris has reacted to Reece James’ potential re-injury during Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Tuesday.

It was James’ first appearance since he picked up a knee injury in the match against AC Milan back in October, and it was clear what a difference he could make for the team.

Unfortunately, the 23-year-old’s long-awaited return only lasted for less than an hour.

After a strong first-half performance in a back four, James sustained a potential injury setback early in the second half.

The defender looked upset when receiving treatment on the pitch before having to be replaced by Cesar Azpilicueta.

Like other Chelsea fans, Morris was not happy.

“Gutting to see Reece leave the pitch in that manner,” the ex-Chelsea assistant manager wrote on Twitter.

“He was cruising in his first game back too.”

It remains unclear how serious the injury is, although at least James was on his feet when he left the pitch.

Chelsea still have Azpiliicueta to rely on for now, but we have also all seen how James’ absence affected Chelsea’s form prior to the 2022 World Cup.
