Martin Keown was not impressed by Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech’s performance in Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb and described the player as “a shadow of his former self”.
The Blues opened their 2022/23 Champions League campaign with a shock defeat as their poor run continues.
It was an overall disappointing performance from the team in what should have been one of their easier fixtures in the competition.
Keown, however, noticed one player, in particular, whose performance looked worrying.
“Ziyech is just out of sorts,” the former Arsenal defender told BT Sport 4 (via BBC)
“He knows that. We saw him play at Ajax, he was quite brilliant.
“He’s a shadow of his former self tonight.”

The retired Morocco international came on as a substitute at the start of the second half, but failed to make an impact.
He did neither manage to create any chance nor complete any of his four dribble attempts and nine crosses.
Interestingly, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano earlier reported how Ziyech failed to complete a return to Ajax this summer after being priced out of the move by Chelsea.
