Shaka Hislop doubts that Romelu Lukaku has a future at Chelsea, explaining he’s just not a good fit for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Lukaku, 29, has received widespread criticism for his first season back at Stamford Bridge.

The left-footed striker ended up with 15 goals across all competitions this campaign, which included eight in the Premier League.

However, he’s not been the talisman in attack the Blues are desperately searching for.

Hislop doubts Lukaku future at Chelsea

ESPN pundit Hislop suggests that Lukaku’s future will be away from west London.

Chelsea fans have longed for a prolific goalscorer ever since the days of Diego Costa and Didier Drogba, but it’s proven to be a major obstacle filling that hole.

“I don’t think so,” Hislop told ESPN when asked if Lukaku has a future at Chelsea.

I’ve been waiting for Lukaku to rediscover his form and I don’t think it ever came. Now I’m resigned to thinking that it was just not a good fit.”

Incidentally, Italian icon Alessandro Del Piero has claimed this week he thinks attacker Lukaku has looked an unnatural fit since day one at Chelsea.

Blues need goalscorer

It’s clear Chelsea need that one player next season that can smash 20-plus goals.

Manchester City and Liverpool, the two dominant sides in England right now, have goals in abundance.

Liverpool can show off the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane as clinical scorers in recent years. Meanwhile, Manchester City are adding goal machine Erling Haaland to an attack that already includes the likes of Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez and Kevin De Bruyne.
