Craig Burley didn’t hold back with his assessment of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s Chelsea performance last night.

Chelsea suffered a 3-1 away defeat on Tuesday evening in the Premier League, losing for the sixth straight game across all competitions.

The Blues were always huge underdogs for yesterday’s trip to Arsenal, but they rolled over in the first-half at the Emirates Stadium and conceded three times inside 35 minutes to kill the contest.

Unfortunately, Frank Lampard’s return as caretaker manager has completed backfired.

ESPN pundit Burley did single out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, 33, for huge criticism after his display against Arsenal. In fact, he even said the Blues striker should be banned from training after a non-existent contribution.

The £10million (Sky Sports) centre-forward was recalled to the starting line-up by Lampard to face his old side, but he managed just nine touches before being substituted off at half-time.

Burley told ESPN: “Aubameyang should not wear a Chelsea jersey again, he should not even be allowed to the training ground.

“… He walked around for 45 minutes. It was embarrassing… He doesn’t care, he’s a liability, and that showed again.”

Aubameyang is still under contract until the end of next season, so we don’t want to completely exile the individual. However, we’ve got to agree it was another forgettable display where he offered nothing.

The service into him wasn’t great and it’s a tough job playing in Chelsea’s attack right now. We’re not convinced he wants to be with us, though.

Jamie Carragher said during yesterday’s game that Aubameyang didn’t look up to speed.

In fairness, the 33-year-old frontman must be struggling with a lack of game time this campaign. But will Lampard be prepared to give him another run out in the final five games of the season?
