Former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko has told Milan TV (via TuttoMercatoWeb) that AC Milan forward Rafael Leao will be out to show what he can do when they face Chelsea tomorrow night.
The Blues welcome the Italian champions for what is a massive match in the Champions League this week, with them desperate to pick up their first win in the competition.
An embarrassing defeat to Dinamo Zagreb followed by a draw to RB Salzburg has left them in a difficult position in their Champions League group, with qualification looking difficult at this stage.
A win tomorrow is essential, however they face the tough test of the Serie A champions, and some of the stars they possess.
One of those is undoubtedly Rafael Leao, who has enjoyed a strong start to the season domestically.
Shevchenko warns Chelsea of Leao
This follows a summer of Chelsea looking to bring the Portuguese winger to the club, with them coming to the conclusion they were still wanting to strengthen their attack despite bringing in Raheem Sterling.
Shevchenko has claimed that Chelsea fans will get a view of the player they wanted to sign this week, with him believing Leao will be out to prove himself against the Blues.
He said: “He is becoming a leader. In London he will have the possibility of showing his great qualities also in the Champions League which is a different competition from the Italian championship. Leao is a great talent who can make a difference in these matches too.”
With the winger’s contract situation still in the air, the Blues may be willing to move again for him, with the price over the summer quoted at around £130m.
While the Blues may be hopeful that he doesn’t have his desired effect tomorrow night, a good performance might only show the Blues what they should be going for next summer.
