TalkSPORT’s Darren Lewis has claimed Michy Batshuayi isn’t good enough to continue playing for Chelsea.

The 28-year-old has been a regular during the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, although he failed to impress in any of his appearances for the side.

He has often been an easy loan for the club to make, with him being loaned out five times already since joining the Blues.

Lewis has claimed that the Belgian requires replacing, with him unable to provide the help that new signing Raheem Sterling will require in front of goal.

He said: “They need a striker, desperately. They were playing with Michy Batshuayi, who simply isn’t good enough to play for the club anymore. That’s not being disrespectful, it’s just a fact. You only ever see him in pre-season, and then he’s loaned out, and then he comes back because they don’t have the numbers.

Batshuayi not good enough for Chelsea

“After the match, Thomas Tuchel was scathing about his own team. He was asked in the press conference if he’d be ready for the game against Everton, and he said he didn’t know.

“There are no question marks about Sterling, we know he can score goals, we know he can score 20 goals in a season. He can do it, but he can’t do it on his own.”

The club are currently not able to choose from many options up top, with Armando Broja also making it clear that he wants to leave.

Despite coming close to a move to West Ham, he remains part of the Blues squad and has travelled with the group to face Udinese tonight.

The Albanian should treat it as a great opportunity to show Thomas Tuchel what he can do, following a promising loan spell with Southampton.

Considering the lack of quality competing for the role, he could have a real chance of nailing down regular minutes this season, which would likely see him change his stance on his future.
