Michael Dawson was not impressed by the performance of Kai Havertz in Chelsea’s win against Leeds United.

It’s been a tough time lately for Blues supporters watching their side, but there was finally something to cheer about on Saturday afternoon.

Graham Potter’s side picked up a valuable three points in the Premier League by beating Leeds 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Wesley Fofana, who impressed his manager today, scored a second-half header from a corner.

It means Chelsea do at least have a small bit of confidence to take into next week’s Champions League tie at home to Borussia Dortmund.

Sky Sports pundit Dawson did single out Havertz as a negative from the weekend fixture.

In his opinion, the 23-year-old forward offered very little threat at home against Leeds.

“Kai Havertz, he’s not a number nine… He doesn’t want to stay between the sticks… He just roams, and he didn’t cause them any problems,” Dawson told the Sky Sports News channel (5:25pm, 4 March).

It was another frustrating Havertz display earlier today.

Yet again, the German was deployed as the central striker, which is a position that most would agree is not his favourite one.

He did waste a 1v1 opportunity with the goalkeeper during the first half, with his right-footed chipped effort lacking any real conviction. Also, he did produce a superbly weighted through ball to create a chance for Ben Chilwell.

Aside from that, there wasn’t too much to highlight of him as an attacking threat.

The fact he’s got just six goals across all competitions this season isn’t enough for someone that has been given so many opportunities as a key part of the starting line-up.
