‘So much more’: Roy Keane makes excited prediction about 21-year-old Chelsea player

Roy Keane has excitedly predicted that there is a lot more to come from one Chelsea star.

Pundit and ex-Premier League star Keane delivered a glowing verdict on Chelsea defender Reece James after watching his international performance on Friday night.

James, 21, shined for England during a 5-0 demolition of Albania in a World Cup qualifier.

The right wing-back provided a beautiful assist from a free-kick and was a brilliant offensive threat.

“He’s such a powerful lad and you think, if he’s got half a brain, he’s got so much more potential. He’s playing for a big club, challenging for trophies, playing in the Champions League, this kid can only get much better,” Keane told ITV 1 (9:50pm, 12 November).

RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.

If fit, Chelsea must start James

James is a regular in the Chelsea team right now, something which has been forced on manager Thomas Tuchel due to his outrageous form.

The Blues manager does like to rotate his wing-backs, though, with club captain Cesar Azpilicueta an alternative to play as the right full-back.

Chelsea can be equally as effective with either Ben Chilwell or Marcos Alonso as the left wing-back. However, the starting XI needs James every match day. For Azpilicueta, he’s most effective in a right-sided centre-back role he’s mastered over the years and should leave the width to his younger colleague.

Defence key to Blues title bid

If Chelsea want to stay at the top of the league this season for the duration, you’d suspect the defence will need to continue in the same vein of form.

The goals are being spread around the team right now to get them over the line in most games.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have conceded just four goals in 11 league matches. The defensive structure Tuchel has implemented at Stamford Bridge is so difficult for opposition teams.
