TalkSPORT pundit claims 22-year-old had his best ever Chelsea game against Brighton

Andy Jacobs thinks Mykhailo Mudryk put in his best ever Chelsea performance at the weekend.

Mykhailo Mudryk, who did only join Chelsea in January, made his 11th appearance for the club on Saturday.

The 22-year-old attacker hasn’t been a regular starter during his opening few months in West London, but he looked to impress caretaker boss Frank Lampard against Brighton.

His assist for Conor Gallagher put Chelsea in front at home to Brighton. Eventually, Lampard’s side did lose the league fixture 2-1, which stretches their poor form even further right now.

TalkSPORT pundit Jacobs did think Mudryk was one positive from Chelsea’s latest defeat in the Premier League.

“Mudryk had his best game for Chelsea [against Brighton]. He played really well. He looked really good,” Jacobs told talkSPORT.

It’s going to be interesting to see if Mudryk has done enough to play his way into the next starting line-up.

Chelsea take on Real Madrid tonight as they try to overturn a two-goal aggregate deficit in the Champions League quarter-finals.

This is a Blues attack that has lookedytoothless all season, so they need some inspired performances from their forwards to cause a shock in Europe.

The Chelsea Chronicle has argued that Mudryk should be in Chelsea’s starting XI this evening against Madrid.

The Ukraine international is obviously still a raw talent with a lot of improvement to do.

However, his pace and directness could be really effective tonight during a game where Chelsea need to try attack with intent.

It was far too comfortable for the Madrid backline in last week’s first leg, but bringing Mudryk into the equation gives them something different to worry about.

The left-winger has as good a case any of his teammates to be starting in the forward line this evening.
