'The guy is amazing': Frank Leboeuf wowed by what £30m Chelsea player did during second half of Lille win

Frank Leboeuf was left wowed by N’Golo Kante’s assist last night during Chelsea’s victory against Lille.

The Blues gained a strong advantage in their Champions League last-16 tie by beating Lille 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in the first leg.

Kai Havertz’s opener came when he headed in a superb corner from Hakim Ziyech.

Afterwards, Christian Pulisic doubled the lead in the second half with a precise lifted finish. It was Kante that was the architect in the second goal, though.

The £30million midfielder produced an incredible lung-busting run from inside his own half before teeing up Pulisic with a perfectly weighted pass into the opposition’s box.

Leboeuf hailed the “amazing” 30-year-old in his post-match reaction:

“N’Golo Kante, how many miles does he run? The second goal is because of him. Pulisic finished the action, but what he (Kante) did, he got the ball back, went forward, and waited for the best time to give the ball to Pulisic. The guy is amazing,” he said.

Kante, who received high praise from his manager Thomas Tuchel for his latest European performance, was out dominating on the Champions League stage once again.

He was instrumental during the Blues run to winning the competition last season. You’d be brave to bet against the team going deep into this year’s competition, too.

Chelsea to win more silverware this season

There is every reason for Blues supporters to confidently feel like another trophy will be added to the cabinet at Stamford Bridge before the season ends.

First of all, this weekend’s final against Liverpool Carabao Cup is the perfect opportunity to do just that. It’s a match against a quality opposition, but there’s nothing to fear based off recent meetings between the two teams.

Beyond that the Champions League and FA Cup are competitions this squad are capable of going deep into.

The way Chelsea perform nowadays in cup matches with Tuchel in charge should spread confidence.
