Andy Jacobs has urged Chelsea to make sure they don’t sell Levi Colwill in this summer transfer window.

Levi Colwill, who’s just helped England win the Under-21s European Championship, is a very popular name around Stamford Bridge right now.

The 20-year-old centre-back is due to link up with Chelsea’s first-team squad soon for pre-season, but will he be part of Mauricio Pochettino’s group for the 2023/24 campaign?

Colwill is a huge talent from the Blues academy and he excelled last year during a season-long loan at Premier League rivals Brighton.

We think the left-footed defender is good enough to slot straight into Chelsea’s senior squad for the first time ever. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of transfer speculation regarding his future right now.

TalkSPORT has reported that Brighton are prepared to cough up a club-record fee of £40million to sign Colwill. The Seagulls have seen first-hand just how much potential he’s got after his loan at the Amex Stadium last year.

Meanwile, Fabrizio Romano recently claimed on his YouTube channel that Chelsea are adamant Colwill won’t be leaving them this summer.

Ultimately, we’ll have to see what happens once the young defender has spoken with Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino during the pre-season trip to the United States.

TalkSPORT pundit and Chelsea fan Andy Jacobs has made his personal opinion crystal clear that Colwill has to stay put with the Blues.

“This is the worry for Chelsea fans. If you can’t see what Levi Colwill is you might as well go home. You might as well not be in recruitment,” Jacobs told talkSPORT.

“He has got two years plus a year option on his contract. He hasn’t met the new manager yet. Let’s just see what happens when he gets back.

“Hopefully the new manager is going to say to him, ‘You’re a big part of what I want to do’.

“No manager can say to a player you’re definitely going to be in. But he certainly can say to him, ‘You’re a big part of our plans and you’re going to get plenty of football.”
