Jason Cundy responded despondently to the unfortunate injury Armando Broja picked up in the friendly between Chelsea and Aston Villa earlier today.

Cundy was on commentary duties for the club when he witnessed the striker’s terrible incident out in Abu Dhabi.

Graham Potter started Broja in an XI full of academy players and a sprinkling of first-teamers.

The 21-year-old last just 18-minutes before he sustained the awful wound that occurred rather out of nowhere.

He went to close down Ezri Konsa in the Villa penalty area and collided with the defender, causing him to fall to the turf in real pain.

His cries could be heard throughout the relatively empty stadium, a noise that nobody enjoyed listening to.

“Broja goes in and it’s innoxious. There’s no real obvious sign of an injury, but just his reaction is very worrying. He’s in a lot of agony the boy,” said Cundy following Broja’s upsetting injury.

“This feels very concerning. He’s still whimpering in pain. I don’t know what happened but just his reaction, I don’t like at all.

“These are very concerning pictures for him but fingers crossed.”

A medical cart had to be brought on to the pitch to carry the Albanian away, with everybody involved in the tie wishing the best for the attacker.

If the damage is serious, it may well be a season-ender for Broja, which would be utterly heart-breaking to say the least.

Broja has only just returned to the Chelsea squad after several campaigns on loan, hoping to truly establish himself at Stamford Bridge.

Our thoughts are with you, Armando.
