Chelsea became the first Premier League side to achieve dominant feat nine years ago today

Back in 2016 on the way to a Premier League title, Chelsea managed something that was a sign of things to come under Antonio Conte.

The Italian’s first campaign is one every Chelsea fan looks back at fondly — simultaneously ignoring what happened the following season.

But during that title charge, Conte and co were on fire. Chelsea did nothing but win in November, finishing the month at the top of the standings and on a seven-game winning streak.

Who is Chelsea’s best manager of the past decade? 👀

Their efforts over the course of the month is what led them to achieving something no team had before, and very few have managed since.

Chelsea had a clean sweep of Premier League awards

It’s hardly surprising given their form over the month, but it was nonetheless a monumental feat.

Conte was awarded Manager of the Month, while Pedro’s strike against Spurs got him the Goal of the Month award. Diego Costa picked up the Player of the Month honour.

The clean sweep has been done just three times since, most recently by Justin Kluivert, David Brooks and Andoni Iraola for Bournemouth last season.

The Blues’ November form moved the needle for their title aspirations. They ended the month just one point clear at the top, but after an emphatic win over second-placed Man City, no one would get close to Chelsea for the rest of the season.

Reece James nominated for PL Player of the Month

The voting for November’s POTM closed early on Monday, with Reece James representing the Chelsea contingent. He already grabbed the Chelsea award last week.

Is Reece James frontrunner for Chelsea's Player of the Season? 👀

His displays both in defence and in midfield have him right up there with the favourites for the award.

While the Blues’ December form has been pretty woeful so far, they were unbeaten in the month prior, winning three and drawing with ten men against Arsenal.

No other nominee has as good a record, and James has as good a case as anyone to win it out.

Enzo Maresca is also in contention for manager of the month. Results will be revealed later this week.
