Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers is going to get the chance to link up with a footballer he believes is very underrated at Chelsea next season.
On Saturday, Chelsea agreed a mega-money deal with Villa to sign Rogers, surprising many people.
The World Cup has not quite concluded yet, with England still needing to play their third-place play-off match, while it looked like Arsenal were the favourites to sign Rogers at one stage.
However, the attacking midfielder is now set to join their London rivals in a huge boost for Xabi Alonso.

Morgan Rogers thinks Reece James is underrated
In an interview last September, Rogers was asked if anyone in the England squad had shocked him with their ability. In response, the 23-year-old answered Reece James.
Speaking to Sky Sports about his future Chelsea teammate, Rogers said: “I’ve said this before and I’m going to say it again, Reece James was the one for me. Not that I thought he wasn’t good, because he’s won the Champions League, and he’d been in Chelsea’s team for ages.
“You don’t quite realise when you go and train how he’s got absolutely everything in his game.”
Rogers and James will both be hoping that England can beat France and claim third place at the World Cup. After that, they will be aiming to guide Chelsea back to the Champions League after the club’s 10th-place finish last season.

The Blues are paying huge money for Rogers, with the fee thought to be £117m. However, the Englishman will be a very exciting addition to Chelsea’s squad.
Rogers was a very productive attacker for Villa. In the previous campaign, he scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 37 Premier League appearances. The campaign before that, Rogers managed two more goal contributions in the same number of games.
The England international can play behind the striker and on the left, while Thomas Tuchel recently used him on the right against Argentina.
He provided the assist for Anthony Gordon’s goal, showing his productivity and versatility.
All in all, Chelsea will be delighted with this signing. It looked like Rogers was slipping away, but they have managed to convince Villa to sell and the former Middlesbrough man to join them.
