Romelu Lukaku will begin to push hard over an exit from Chelsea once his time on international duty with Belgium comes to an end.

Well, the 30-year-old is determined to stay at Inter Milan, and has no interest in returning to Stamford Bridge.

Lukaku scored 14 goals on loan at Inter Milan during the 2022/23 campaign, helping the Italian giants win the Coppa Italia while also reaching the UEFA Champions League final.

While a fresh start awaits him at Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino, the Belgian has no interest in coming back to west London to play under the Argentine.

In our view, Lukaku is clearly not focused on repaying the £97.5m Chelsea spent to bring him back to west London.

The Antwerp-born striker famously held an interview reiterating his love for Inter Milan just months after returning to Stamford Bridge, and his desire to now spend another season with the Italian giants surely won’t please Chelsea fans.

Now, if Lukaku really does proceed to ‘bang his fists on the table’ and push to leave Chelsea once again, he presumably won’t have many people left fighting his corner at Stamford Bridge.

As far as club-record signings go, Lukaku’s initially exciting return to Chelsea in 2021 has well and truly backfired.
